We are pleased to introduce you to Mark Beasse, MSc., PAg.

Mark Beasse is a Professional Agrologist with an active practice in land reclamation, environmental monitoring, and remediation and management of contaminated land. Mark holds a Master of Soil Science degree and a Bachelor of Environmental Science degree through the University of Alberta. He has been working in the environmental field since 2005 and regularly attends, and contributes, to local scientific conferences to keep abreast of scientific and industry developments.

Mark joined the SYLVIS Edmonton team to support the BIOSALIX project, an initiative that uses biosolids to enhance legacy reclamation areas to develop short-rotation coppice crops on marginal agricultural soil. In his role as an Environmental Scientist, Mark provides technical advice on soil, vegetation, and surface water monitoring. He also implemented an automated tool to integrate reporting from operations into project management to improve tracking efficiency by reducing the handling of data.

In addition to his project work at BIOSALIX, Mark has contributed to the Weyerhaeuser Edson ash management project. He reviewed soil monitoring data to evaluate the results of ash applications to agricultural soils which demonstrated improvements to soil pH and the availability of soil nutrients that increased crop vigor.
