SYLVIS Presenting at WEF's Residuals & Biosolids Conference

Tuesday, April 30, 2019

Join SYLVIS at this year’s Residuals and Biosolids Conference and Exhibition organized by the Water Environment Federation and International Water Association from May 7 to 10 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

John Lavery from SYLVIS will be co-presenting with Catalina Nadeau-Bonilla and Sam Bailey from the City of Calgary. Join them as they take you down the “Yellow Brick Road” and discuss the diversification of the City of Calgary’s biosolids management program. In 2012, SYLVIS and the City of Calgary embarked on a unique project, developing a 400 ha biomass willow plantation that was designed to beneficially use over 20,000 bulk tonnes of biosolids per year, and return up to 10,000 cubic metres of custom biomass to the city for use as a composting feedstock. The system permanently sequestered thousands of tonnes of carbon in the soil through biosolids application and the development of woody root biomass in a marginal agricultural setting.

We look forward to seeing you there!
