SYLVIS Presenting at SWANA Conference

Wednesday, May 22, 2019

SYLVIS heads back to school at the SWANA Northern Lights 2019 Conference & Tradeshow in Winnipeg Manitoba from May 22 to 24th, 2019. This year’s conference is focused around returning to the classroom to learn about advances in waste and recycling.

Kasia Caputa from SYLVIS will be co-presenting with Becky Raddatz from the City of Winnipeg on the innovative approach to using fabricated soil as a final capping material for the Summit Landfill. SYLVIS initially worked with the City of Winnipeg to pioneer the first Manitoba fabricated soil pilot project at the Brady Road Resource Management Facility. Building on the success of the Brady Road Resource Management Facility, the City of Winnipeg commenced an operational soil mixing trial at the Summit Landfill. This trial provides an innovative opportunity to use residuals from three different city waste streams to produce a product that will beneficially enhance the City’s ability to rehabilitate, restore, and maintain the many closed landfills throughout the City and surrounding areas.

We look forward to seeing you there!
