In British Columbia the term "biosolids" refers to the product of municipal wastewater treatment that meets the requirements of the BC Organic Matter Recycling Regulation.
Organic Matter Recycling Regulation Intentions Paper
In April 2016, the BC Ministry of Environment (MoE) announced a review of the Organic Matter Recycling Regulation (OMRR). To date, this review has consisted of a literature review of the risks of biosolids land application in the Nicola Valley, a sampling and analysis program at biosolids land application sites, and a series of webinars introducing the review process.
An intentions paper outlining proposed changes to the regulation was released October 3, 2016. The purpose of the intentions paper is to seek comments and feedback on the proposed changes from all interested parties. The MoE will be using feedback received through this process to update the OMRR.
Comments and feedback in regards the intentions paper are to be provided to the MoE by December 2, 2016.
