What will our Environmental Technician Do?

The Environmental Technician will work with our team of professionals in BC. You will be based out of our New Westminster office, however the majority of field work will occur at our Richmond site. You are a self-starter, enthusiastic, and a contributor in dynamic and interdisciplinary environments, working equally well to accomplish specific tasks either alone or in a team.  You are known for your organization, attention to detail, can-do attitude and work ethic.  You will assist in implementing our operational and consulting project requirements in both the field and office. These requirements include, but are not limited to: environmental monitoring and data collection, data entry, office and field site maintenance. Examples of recurring tasks may include:

  • Conduct environmental monitoring

  • Participate in vegetation management including mowing, mechanical and manual weed removal

  • Light field equipment operation such as lawn tractors and gas/electric powered hand tools

  • Data entry

  • General labour activities as required

  • Cleaning sampling and field equipment

  • General office duties such as cleaning vehicles and various office maintenance tasks

  • Administrative responsibilities as required

What do you need to succeed in this role?

  • Minimum two-year technical diploma in one of the following disciplines: environmental studies, horticulture, biology, forestry, mining, engineering or similar

  • Work experience with light equipment such as weed trimmers, mowers

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

  • Work well as part of a team and independently

  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions

  • Previous work experience in environmental monitoring or consulting is an asset

  • Experience working with organic residuals such as manure, biosolids, or compost is an asset

  • Ability to travel and work alone (valid driver’s license required)

  • Fluent in English and have excellent communication skills
