Management Tools

Much like a carpenter requires a hammer to build a house, specific tools are required to build a successful residuals management program.

SYLVIS develops tools to facilitate all aspects of residuals management and beneficial use.  Examples include:

• Biosolids Emissions Assessment Model (BEAM) – a user-friendly system of spreadsheets designed to calculate and assess greenhouse gas emissions associated with biosolids management;
• Biosolids Technical Communication Resource – a compendium of biosolids-related information and answers to frequently asked questions to allow regional governments to inform and answer questions from internal staff and external stakeholders; and
• Biosolids Carbon Tracking Guidance – a methodology paper which provides guidance in determining carbon storage associated with biosolids management.

In developing these tools we worked closely with our clients to understand the desired outcomes, determine the best strategy for implementation and ensure usability and applicability.
