SYLVIS, with partners at Northern Tilth and the University of Washington, developed the Biosolids Emissions Assessment Model (BEAM) to calculate greenhouse gas emissions from Canadian biosolids management.
Quality Improvement
Residuals use is predicated on quality. SYLVIS conducts source management studies and monitoring programs to assist our clients in improving the quality of their residuals.
Source management investigations involve analyzing historical data to identify trends in residuals quality, and recommending actions to mitigate quality deviations and ensure regulatory compliance.
Monitoring and sampling programs are designed to isolate and identify sources of a particular constituent in the residual, a trace metal for example. Once the constituent has been identified, steps can be taken to reduce the concentration in the residual.
Quality improvement initiatives are not limited to regulatory compliance but extend to all aspects of product formulation, production and use. Quality assurance is paramount in ensuring residuals use achieves the desired outcomes.
