What will the Equipment Operator do?

As an Equipment Operator for SYLVIS you will work on specific operational projects related to the beneficial use of residuals at rural sites located in the Southern Cariboo Region of BC. You must be knowledgeable and experienced in efficient equipment operations and strive to achieve operational targets and timelines.  SYLVIS consists of a team of qualified professionals, technical staff and equipment operators.  You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team to fulfill the role of Full-Time Seasonal Equipment Operator.

As an Equipment Operator you will be involved in a wide range of activities, and specifically be required to:

  • Operate heavy equipment (loader, excavator, dozer, etc.) and agricultural equipment (tractor, manure spreader, etc.) for the distribution of residuals at SYLVIS project locations
  • Achieve all personal and team related health and safety requirements
  • Keep work sites orderly and clean
  • Complete task tracking, equipment logging and daily forms
  • Report directly to and coordinate with the Operations Manager on all work related activities
  • Coordinate with project specific Project Managers as required
  • Coordinatewith the Operations Manager to undertake scheduled maintenance and repairs of equipment
  • Assist with the supervision of contractors and provide operational assistance to contractors as required and directed by the Operations Manager
  • Undertake general labour associated with our operations including: using powered hand tools, conducting site maintenance and undertaking light machine operations
  • Undertake other work appropriate to the position as directed by the OM and/or required by site specific Project Managers
  • Depending upon location, be able to stay on-site (accommodation provided) during work week

What do you need to succeed in this role?

  • 2+ years’ experience operating heavy equipment and relevant certifications
  • Are physically fit and ability to work outdoors in ALL weather conditions
  • Have a willingness to employ banked time scheduling system and work flexible schedules
  • Ability to travel and work alone
  • Ability to work closely with other team members, external clients (landowners) and contractors
  • Possess a “can-do” attitude, willingness to maximize productivity, ability to meet deadlines and flexibility
  • Possess a valid BC Driver’s License

Preferred Additional Qualificaitons:

  • Class 1 Driver's License with air endoresement and 5+ year's experience
  • Level 1 First Aid Certificaiton
